I don’t think policy defaults should be changed with the price of bitcoin (in USD) if they protect the p2p network from DoS. I agree with Matt Corallo’s tweet that the cost of attack should keep increasing over time.
USD has devalued and average salaries have increased significantly over the last 10 years. So these calculations would never be appropriate for bitcoin p2p network. The adversaries for networks like bitcoin could remain unaffected even with an increase in the cost of attack.
