Thank you for putting together the survey and keeping the discussion going! With LND finalizing onion message forwarding support I concur that it’s about time that we find a way forward and start implementing further mitigations for potential OM spam attacks.
To me, Bastien’s backpressure proposal seems like a reasonable next step, in particular as

it’s likely not a enormous lift (making it unlikely all implementations actually adopt it in a reasonable timeframe)

it’s somewhat backwards compatible and not super invasive to other parts of the protocol

it doesn’t seem to conflict with further mitigation steps. So, in case we some time down the road we don’t deem it sufficient, we can still add any of the other mitigation strategies on top
