Consensus Debate
There is a lot of debate around how can Radpool distribute rewards without a consensus.
I want to point out, it is not that Radpool doesn’t reach a consensus on the shares from all miners and the payouts to pay.
Radpool reaches the agreement on shares and rewards distribution without requiring an explicit nakamoto consensus at the share chain level.
Radpool reduces the problem to a BFT consensus with known membership and therefore is able to use any of the off the shelf BFT consensus implementations.
In our published design, we have chosen the simplest solution to build - even if it has expensive in terms of communication complexity. We can later swap to a more efficient BFT if and when we run into scalability challenges.
